Three quick tips for a better business website.
As a website designer, you are constantly learning. Even though I have been doing this for over 20 years, there is still much more to discover. Not just coding or design skills but marketing experience, too.
Today, I want to share three tips to help make your business website work harder.👇
Remove social media icons from your header.
No.1—Social media icons in the header.
If you keep yours in your header, remove them, especially if they are colourful.
Displaying them here makes them act as colourful exit signs for your visitors, and the last thing you want to do is encourage your visitors to leave your website, especially if they have just arrived.
So, consider putting them in the footer. Remove the colour if you can and keep your visitors on your site longer.
Make your contact form work harder.
No.2—Contact form "thank-you" page.
If you are using a contact form as your main point of contact for your website, don't redirect your user to a page that says "thank you".
Use the opportunity to present them with additional information or encourage another action.
For example, add a field to enable visitors to subscribe to your newsletter. Direct them to some additional content on your website. Or inform them of the next steps in your buying process. Whatever you do, make your "thank-you" page more than just a website page that only says thank you.
Remove dates from your blog posts.
No.3—Remove published dates on your blog posts.
Dates on your blog articles age your content, and old article creation dates will put people off reading your content, even if it is still relevant.
So unless you’re the BBC News, remove blog dates from your posts to avoid prematurely ageing your content.
Summary
That's it. I hope these three tips have helped you improve your business website for your visitors.
